New regulation in Europe

A new European Union Regulation (EU 300/2008) will come into effect on 29th April 2010. The new regulation redefines the European standards for airfreight security. In order to strengthen the “Secure Supply Chain”, shippers must comply with the new standards and increased requirements. From 29th April 2010 onwards it will no longer be possible for European shippers to sign a Security Declaration in order to avoid costly security checks (e.g. by x-ray). Instead, every shipper who wants to become a “Known Consignor” whose cargo is excluded from security checks must be certified by an independent valuator.
